ITM University, Gurgaon forms Anti-Ragging Committee, Squads
Gurgaon, July 25, 2014: Renewing its pledge to keep the campus ragging free, ITM University, Gurgaon has formed anti-ragging committee and squads in the backdrop of admissions going on in full swing for new academic session.
The University has an unblemished record of zero per cent tolerance for ragging. There has not been a single incident of ragging in the University since inception.
The Anti-Ragging Committee, headed by the Vice-Chancellor and comprising Registrar and various faculty members, parents, students and a police representative, had a meeting, to reiterate its resolve of keeping the campus ragging free.
The members were made aware of the various orders from the UGC, Government of Haryana and the Hon’ble Supreme Court on the subject of ragging. They were informed that ragging is a cognizable offence and an FIR has to be filed in cases involving ragging.
Prof B S Panwar, Vice Chancellor, ITM University, Gurgaon said, “The University has formed Anti Ragging Squads which comprises of faculty members, security staff and incorporated senior students to ensure that preventive measures are taken. It is our duty to ensure that no incident of ragging is permitted to take place in the University. Any incident of ragging coming to the notice of the squads would not be hushed up, and immediately reported and suitable action will be taken.”
All members of the Anti-Ragging Squads, later, were briefed by the Registrar on the modality of operation and the importance of remaining vigilant and taking preventive action to ensure that no incident of ragging takes place when new session starts on July 28, 2014.
