Bhubaneswar, 8th October, 2013: The Odisha Christian leadership conference was inaugurated this morning at Rabindra Mandap, Bhubaneswar by Dr. Phil Roberts, former President of Mid Western Seminary in USA. This Conference is being held from 8th to 10th October, 2013 at Rabindra Mandap, Bhubaneswar and is attended by 1000 Christian leaders drawn from all the 30 districts of Odisha. The Conference seeks to build social tolerance, communal harmony and community brotherhood among all communities by sensitizing the Christian leaders to the need for mainstreaming in the nation building process and becoming builders of society with the virtues of love, peace, affection and joy as enshrined in the life of Lord Jesus Christ. This conference is being jointly organized by the Utkal Christian Church Central Council, Orissa Baptist Evangelistic Crusade, All Orissa Baptist Churches Federation, Odisha Minority Forum and YMCA, Bhubaneswar.

The inaugural ceremony was presided by Dr.Swarupananda Patra, President, Odisha Minority Forum and the keynote address was provided by Mr.Darren Wickham from the Texas Baptist Church. Dr.Satyananda Patra, President, Utkal Christian Church Central Council was also present. Speaking on the occasion Dr.Phil Roberts proposed that the Christianity being a faith of forgiveness and hope should also serve as a reminder to all the Christians in Odisha to love, respect and forgive others.

Tomorrow the Grand Plenary Session inauguration would be undertaken by Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Shri.J.B.Patnaik at Rabindra Mandap. The Conference would end with a resolve to build a more secular, tolerant and compassionate society using the values of Christianity as a benchmark.
